My name is Christina and music is my passion. A cellist of 22 years, I am an active solo and chamber musician in the San Antonio area performing with several local ensembles and orchestras. I currently am a member of San Antonio's baroque orchestra, Sonido Borroco. I also enjoy being the lead cellist for folk band, Filigree. I absolutely love playing my cello and sharing music. More importantly, I love teaching children to love and express themselves through music.
For the past 10 years I have been a music educator for NISD, NEISD and Edgewood ISD as a strings teacher at Longs Creek Elementary, Steubing Ranch Elementary, Behlau Elementary, Glenoaks Elementary, Blattman Elementary, Carnighan Elementary, Meadow Village Elementary, Brauchle Elementary, McAndrew Elementary, Gardendale Elementary and Winston Elementary.
For the past 3 years I have been a mentor for the YOSA Más in Edgewood ISD, a program that directly reaches out to the community by providing string instruments and instruction in San Antonio’s west side of underprivileged children who may not otherwise have these opportunities.
I also enjoy being a new strings teacher for HOST (Homeschool Orchestra of San Antonio) that provides instruction for homeschoolers.
Former principal teachers include Phyllis Kline (member of the Corpus Christi Symphony), Dan Zollars (former principal cellist of the San Antonio Symphony) and Christopher Parsons.
I hold my own private teaching studio of both cello and violin students. I am a member of ASTA (American String Teachers Association) as well as TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association).
